Simple. Gary Mitchell, who turned into a god-like being in the Trek ep Where No Man Has Gone Before, is transported to Middle Earth, and finds himself facing Saruman.

What era Middle Earth though? What defines 'god-like'?

I was thinking of ME at the time of LOTR, of course. Saruman as we saw him in the films/books.
